Siemens Engage the Warehouse Specialists at GH Consulting

Representing the forefront of technological change and social progression in the UK since 1843.Siemens designs, manufactures and services small industrial gas turbines; operating a range of 5 to 15MW across a family of 4 main types of turbines. Globally Siemens have an installed fleet of over 3,000 units across over 90 countries. Over 1700 of these are still operational; the average life of a gas turbine is upwards of 25 years.

The company is active in more than 200 countries, focusing on the areas of electrification, automation and digitalisation. One of the world’s largest producers of energy-efficient, resource-saving technologies; Siemens is a prominent figure in offshore wind turbine construction, a leading supplier of combined cycle turbines for power generation, a leading provider of power transmission solutions, and a pioneer in infrastructure solutions and automation and software solutions for industry. The company is also a leading supplier of medical imaging equipment – including computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging systems – and is a leader in laboratory diagnostics as well as clinical IT.

With over 160 years of engineering history, the Siemens gas turbine business in Lincoln is at the forefront of energy sustainability - supplying efficient power and lifetime product service to the global oil and gas industry, power generation and mechanical drive applications.

The Siemens team informed the Logistics and Warehouse Consultants at Gideon Hillman Consulting, that they required support for their gas turbine facility in Lincoln. The Logistics and Warehouse Specialists at Gideon Hillman Consulting were instructed by Siemens, to complete an extensive review of the requirements for their proposed new facility, to sense check their proposed new storage and distribution centre for Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery’s (SIT) Teal Park site.

Using CAD, the Specialist Logistics and Supply Chain Consultants provided Siemens with realistic plans for their new future Siemens facility at theTeal Park site; considering the requirements of base design layouts to incorporate all storage media including a range of static, mobile and cantilever racking, automated Kardex & Megamat vertical storage systems, storage shelving units and defined work areas.
